This post was inspired by Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop. Each week she provides her readers with five writing prompts. The one I chose this week was (1) Something You Love About December.
Yesterday Steeler Fan and I reached a milestone in our relationship. We celebrated 20 years of marriage which is HUGE! We’ve made some beautiful memories and endured some challenging times over the years. We did it TOGETHER and are still going strong which is why celebrating our Anniversary this month is “the something” I love about December.
Something else I love are Snickerdoodles. The recipe for these showed up in my inbox last week. I couldn’t help but give them a try.
The original recipe can be found on Foodnetwork.com. I adjusted the recipe a little and think they still turned out well.
Instead of 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour, I used 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour plus 1 cup whole wheat flour. I also added 1 tsp vanilla extract.
My only concern about these was the use of shortening. I’m still feeling guilty about that but it’s not like I use it year round so I’m going to try and forgive myself this time. The recipe yields about 4 dozen cookies so if you try the same recipe, be prepared to freeze quite a few of them.
These turned out well. Thin but still crispy outside and chewy inside just they way they should be.
Have you tried Snickerdoodles? What do you think of them?

Congrats on 20 years. That is definitely something to celebrate. The snickerdoodles look amazing too. YUM

Oh please let me know how the cookies turn out for you AwesomelyOz. I don’t know if I can say that Steeler Fan and I have a secret. We take it one day at a time and so far we’re still in it together.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
