One of the things we love about Spring are the festivals. Here in the Atlanta area there are tons of them to choose from. This year Steeler Fan and I decided to try one that we’ve never been to before, the Inman Park Festival. Talk about a good time…
Of course, the first thing we’re going to do is try some festival food. My chicken on a stick over yellow rice and Steelers Fan’s grilled sausage were accompanied by gigantic cups of sweet, delicious lemonade. We dined under a big white tent while the Pan People performed Caribbean steel drum music. Talk about setting the mood for a good time.
After lunch, we strolled through the streets of the Inman Park neighborhood which were lined with Street Market vendors offering antiques and handcrafted goods. It’s one of the best outdoor markets I’ve ever seen.
We eventually found ourselves on Edgewood Avenue where we would hang out for a while. After polishing off a funnel cake, Steeler Fan and I found a comfortable place to stand so we could view the highly popular, artistically inspired Spring Parade.
There were lots of creative groups and, surprisingly, politicians participating in the parade. The streets were filled with lively music and great energy. The whole time, Steeler Fan and I felt like we were part of a HUGE block party.
After the parade we visited a few more vendor booths, cooled off with a frozen lemonade then finally took our exhausted, happy selves home. This event was a memory maker and we’re looking forward to doing it again next year.
Are you a big festival lover? Tell us about your favorite!
Looks like it was great fun! I’m stopping by from SITS Sharefest – thanks so much!
