If you’re the fun, competitive type with a manageable taste for speed, you might just appreciate a night at Andretti Indoor Karting & Games with a few of your favorite, like-minded friends. I visited their Roswell location with a couple friends of my own to experience what they had to offer at the grill and in their arcade. My sister and Steeler Fan have both attended company events here but there’s nothing like a first-hand look.
Andretti Grill was our first pit stop. We started our dinner with the Sky High Nachos appetizer which was a sight to behold. If you need an ice breaker at your table, this is it. It was a towering pile of tri-colored chips, queso, cheddar, monterey jack, pico de gallo, jalapenos, scallions and sour cream. When you order this, you can choose from steak or chicken. We opted for chicken. I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed these.
If you’ve ever had a similar dish smothered beyond reason with cheese, you’ll appreciate the fact that the Sky High Nacho chips were crisp and there was just enough of each topping to keep it interesting. You could easily get your fill off of this alone but then you’d miss out on some of the other delicious menu offerings.
Crafted by award-winning chef, Anna Firmani, Andretti Grill serves up an appetizing selection of burgers, sandwiches, pizza, entrees and desserts. My friends and I each ordered from different sections of the menu. For example, this is the Big Tex, one of several Hand Crafted Burgers. It was topped with Applewood smoked bacon, BBQ sauce and a double dose of Cheddar cheese. I was actually pleasantly surprised to see that there were chicken, turkey and veggie burger options as well.
The Big Green Egg selections included this rack of St. Louis Style Ribs, grilled and served with homemade fries.
The Main Event entrees tempted me with the Kickin’ Chicken Pasta. It was a generous portion of penne pasta, fresh diced tomatoes, sliced mushrooms, scallions and cajun chicken tossed with spicy Parmesan sauce. It was my kind of saucy and full of flavor.
When entrees are really good, it can be difficult to save room for dessert. When you visit Andretti’s be sure to save room for this one.
The Cookie Jar Ice Cream Cake is a glorious slice of cookie dough and coffee ice cream smothered in Heath bar chunks, caramel and chocolate sauce with an Oreo cookie crust topped with fresh whipped cream. Dessert is one of my favorite “unofficial but might as well be” food groups. This particular slice of loveliness has a deserving place in it.
Have you ever eaten to your heart’s content only to be charged with the pursuit of fun afterwards? If you haven’t, then get ready.
We strolled through the entertainment complex to check out the karting and game areas. Note that there’s a nice view of the track from the Sky Bar. It’s free of karting fumes and there are tables and chairs so you can relax as you watch while sipping delicious cocktails and craft beer. The facility also boasts a Cruden simulator, cosmic rock wall, ropes course, zip line and a variety of redemption games like Skee Ball (one of my faves), Basketball and Ms. Pac Man, an old school fave.
For a Saturday night, hanging out with friends at Andretti’s makes for a pretty decent time. There’s plenty to do and, to top it off, there’s good food and drinks too.
