One of the things that makes dining out interesting is the unexpected. Imagine walking up to a gray metal door with a blind-folded pig’s head mounted just above it. What would you expect to find on the other side? Note that this door sits beneath a popular barbecue spot in Buckhead.
Could you possibly imagine a space reminiscent of the Prohibition Era? If you could, you would be right. Beyond that gray door lies The Blind Pig Parlour Bar, a 1920’s inspired speakeasy. A couple steps inside and the essence of what this space is will endear you.
You’ll want to explore several cozy seating options before choosing one that suits you and the cocktail you’ll order once you’re all settled in.
Craft cocktails with names like Americans & Their Boots (pictured), Dear John, and Fine Thing to Say are featured on the beverage menu. As you sip, you’ll want some nibbles so there is a small plates menu as well. It offers bites like Crab Deviled Eggs, southern style with flying fish roe,
Fancy Pimento Cheese Spread with scallion curls, spicy cherry-pepper sauce and house-made pork rinds,
Spicy Tuna Tartare Toasts with avocado and Kentucky bourbon soy-spiked aioli, Cubanitos with pulled pork, pepperjack cheese, pickles and mustard vinaigrette on a pressed bun,
House-made Mozzarella & Smoked Salmon Roulade with basil pesto and piquillo pepper puree,
and Herbed Goat Cheese with bacon jam, honey drizzle, smoked almond dust and spiced house-made crackers. For the record, this is the item I would order over and over again. It could be the cheese lover in me talking but I find it kinda magical.
Beyond the food and drinks, The Bling Pig is one of those places where you can go to get lost in the music and cozy conversations. I dined there with my sister and other food bloggers and found that getting comfortable was quick and easy. Having to pick up and go afterwards was the challenge. In case you’re wondering, and I do hope you are, you can arrange your own private affair there as well. Think birthdays, showers and just because events.
