Studio No.7: Step Inside

Let’s say you’re strolling along Marietta Street in the downtown Atlanta area and you happen upon a chalkboard door located at 393. What do you do? Well, the partners at Studio No.7 want you to open it, then step inside. Why would you want to do such a thing you wonder? Because you need to sit and relax for a while. Lounge even. Let me tell you why.

7 chalkboard door

Behind the chalkboard door of Studio No.7 lives a creative space unlike any I’ve seen in the city thus far. It’s a place where you can gather after work for happy hour and socialize in an environment inspired by the arts. What makes this a more desirable experience is the attention to detail and the welcoming feeling you receive from partners Shannon and Earl.

During my initial visit to the lounge last week for their Fall Menu Release, I was able to absorb and taste a bit of the ambiance and culinary talent they’re serving up. It was a carefully orchestrated event. One that required patience and the ability to let go of hurried schedules and simply relax. Lounging if you will. I’ll be the first to admit that this approach falls way outside of what I’ve grown accustomed to service-wise but it makes perfect sense. When I return, I’ll be prepared to stay a while and enjoy more of their incredible cuisine.

6 menu

Chef Nadine Moore is the talent at work in the kitchen at Studio No.7. Each dish she sent out that night was special. It was evident that a lot of time and care was spent crafting the diverse menu inspired by Latin American and Asian street food. The menu includes items like:

1 tomato saffron soup

tomato saffron soup (charred tomato, saffron soup, Venezuelan cheese bread sticks “tequenos”)

2 elote en vaso

elote en vaso (charred corn, coconut cream, cotija cheese, thai chili, lime zest, Portugese sea salt)

3 mini quesadillas

mini quesadillas (house made scallion flour tortillas, seared vegetables, cilantro cotija pesto, cheddar, black beans)

4 shrimp and yucca

shrimp and yucca (loaded mashed yucca, tomato braised shrimp, house made chorizo)

5 festival

festival (fried cornmeal doughnut, powdered sugar, pumpkin spice, butter rum sauce)

I know you’re saying to yourself that it all looks pretty and sounds good but really
it is. It’s amazing. Don’t just take my word for it though. Try it for yourself. If you happen upon that chalkboard door at 393 Marietta Street, go ahead, pull it open, step inside, order something from the menu, then take your time and enjoy the experience that is Studio No.7.
