You ever find yourself passing a display of strawberries in the grocery store or farmers market and wonder what you might make with them? I usually eat them fresh as a snack but my sweet tooth wanted me to make Strawberry Shortcakes instead.
Here’s a look at how these are made…
Start by slicing roughly one pint of the strawberries.
Next, combine approximately 1/3 cup of brown sugar and a tablespoon of water in a saucepan and cook on medium-low for just a few minutes until the brown sugar is melted.
Pour the liquid brown sugar on top of the berries and mix until coated.
Let the strawberries sit for 30 minutes, allowing them to release some of their juices.
I’m sure you’ve seen these little cake shells in the grocery store. Buy a package of these along with a container of Cool Whip.
Spoon a few strawberries along with a bit of the sweetened juice onto the cake shell.
Finally, top it all off with a dollop of Cool Whip, find a cozy chair to snuggle into and enjoy!

I’ve never tried the whole brown-sugar sauce. I would definitely like to! Great idea. 🙂
I LOVE this dessert! This time of year just makes me crave it. From now until August, when I want something sweet, it will be strawberry shortcake. This recipe might have to be used this weekend. Thanks!
Yum! I love Strawberry Shortcake!

Thanks Karen. Strawberry Shortcake for breakfast sounds perfect!
Oh, man. That looks yummy! Thanks for sharing your glaze recipe. I’ve never used the strawberries any way but plain. I’ll have to give that a try.
Happy Sharefest. Have a lovely weekend.
Thanks MissRobin! Plain strawberries are great but I like to moisten my cake a little with the sweetness of the syrup.
Love strawberry shortcake!
So happy you do Akaleistar. Thanks for taking time to stop by.

Thanks Alison!
That’s how I make mine, too! Stopping by from #SITSSHAREFEST!
Glad to know I’m not the only one. Thanks for visiting Andrea!
This looks amazing! I love any type of dessert that has strawberry in it. Just perfect for summer!
Happy Sharefest and have a great day!!
Thank you Karen!
I make my strawberry shortcakes with the cake bottom pictured here, but I always use the strawberry glaze. I am definitely going to use this mixture next time because I don’t really like the glaze too much! Stopping in from Sharefest!

Hi Britton. I’ve never tried the strawberry glaze before. I think you’ll like the brown sugar syrup. Just pile a few strawberries on the cake shell then drizzle a little of the syrup on top. Enjoy!!!
Oh, yes please! I have a real weakness for strawberries.
