Yesterday was the start of Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week, an opportunity for diners to enjoy prix-fixe signature menus at some of the area’s dining hot spots. The menus range in price from $15, $25 and $35 with brunch, lunch and dinner options.
I received an invite to attend a social media walking taste tour which included three participating restaurants. As it turns out, a progressive experience like this is a great way to explore the city and its food scene.
We started at McCormick and Schmick’s which has been on my foodie bucket list for a while. It’s a warm, comfortable space and seemed to have a more conservative, upscale vibe. We were there at 6 pm so the dining room wasn’t full yet. I would love to try dinner service here on a Friday night when the place is packed and the energy is high. I love that in a restaurant. If the delicious samples and cocktails we were served are any indication, I believe dinner would be wonderful.

The second stop on our progressive taste tour was Thrive. The decor here is modern and elegant and it feels like a place where fun happens. I enjoyed the tastes here as well, especially the Watermelon Salad. They also make a really nice Lemon Drop. This would be a spot I would return to for a girls night out.

Our final stop was Ted’s Montana Grill. The restaurant is heartland earthy and feels like a real neighborhood hangout. The place was packed and overflowing with lively conversations. Our hosts were excited to share the big and little nuances which make it such a special place. From pieces of Mr. Turner’s personal art collection hanging on the wood paneled walls, to the sustainable approach to their food sourcing and preparation down to the paper straws they proudly use, it’s clear that they care not only about the quality of the dining experience they offer their patrons but the impact they have on the environment as well.
