A little more than a month ago, Infusion Breakfast Bistro | Bar + Grille celebrated a year in business. The restaurant specializes in cake and pie infused waffles which I and members of the Atlanta Food Bloggers’ Society were invited to sample. Imagine waffles infused with flavors inspired by Red Velvet Cake, Cookies-N-Cream, Buttermilk and Georgia Caramel Apple Pie. Those are the flavors I sampled but there are others. What do think of Key Lime, Candied Yam or Georgia Peach Pie infused waffles? Sounds tempting don’t you think?
Of the waffles I tried, my favorite was the Caramel Apple Pie. It was just the right amount of sweet, and felt almost like comfort food. The others I tried were nice but didn’t seem to carry very significant notes of the desserts they were inspired by. The Red Velvet infused waffle was topped with a cream cheese butter and was served with a side of praline pecans. These toppings actually made the waffle stand out for me. Another curiosity with the waffles was the texture. I’m accustomed to waffles that are lightly crisped on the outside and soft on the inside. I prefer them that way. The Infusion waffles I tried were all more cake-like in texture which isn’t a bad thing, just different.
Alongside the waffles were fried chicken tenders which were cooked and seasoned just right. If bacon and sausage aren’t your thing, these are great alternatives.
Infusion also offers other popular breakfast dishes including a Salmon Omelet, Crab Omelet, Shrimp & Grits topped with a lobster cream sauce, Salmon Croquettes and Fish & Grits. There are also Lunch and Dinner menus with traditional items like Burgers, Wings, Wraps and Salads. There’s even a Seafood Mac & Cheese with a blend of crab, lobster and shrimp. Hungry yet?
For those looking for something to see and do while dining, Infusion hosts an open mic event called Say Word on Tuesday nights at 8pm. Breakfast is served all day so go ahead and indulge in infused waffles with a side of poetry, music and even art.
