Last Saturday, the place to see and be seen in Atlanta was Taste of Speed’s VIP Jet Port Experience. The event took place at Dekalb Peachtree Airport (PDK), in a large hangar turned swanky hangout. The event, presented by the duPont Registry, delivered a luxurious evening of speed (luxury cars, jets & bikes), fashion, music and food tastings from some of our city’s upscale dining destinations.

Hosted by Jet Linx Aviation and Ferrari Maserati Atlanta, the red carpet was literally rolled out for stylish guests as a gateway of sorts to indoor/outdoor extravagance. Attendees lingered in the cigar lounge and admired the beauty of some nicely customized cars like Lamborghini, Jaguar, BMW, Audi, Mercedes and Bentley.

They were also treated to tasty bites from 1920 Tavern, Salt Factory, Petite Cakes and more.

Of course, there were signature cocktails like this Ginger Fizz from JR Revelry Bourbon, a Ruby Red Cocktail mixed with a little Deep Eddy Vodka and some Sassy “B” Wine. I like to keep it clean around here so we’ll just let the picture speak for itself.

Other highlights of the event included a live performance by Ashanti Floyd, aka, “The Mad Violinist and a fashion show by Image Rock Live. There were several lovely pieces for men and women showcased on the runway including a couture gown with 700 peacock feathers designed by Arthlene Laudat Legair valued at over $10,000.

Bert's Big Adventure

With every great event, there is and should be an even greater cause to shine a light on. The Taste of Speed beneficiary was Bert’s Big Adventure, an organization which provides all-expense paid, five-day journeys to Walt Disney World for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families. Year round, the non-profit also provides additional supportive services.  Silent and live auctions were held at Taste of Speed with proceeds benefiting Bert’s Big Adventure.

Visit the Bert’s Big Adventure website to learn more about the organization and to find out how you can help.
