Lady Fingers & Mascarpone Cheese

You ever have a craving for something decadent like Tiramisu? Wonder if it requires a little too much work? It doesn’t. There’s a great recipe on the back of the Lady Fingers package and it’s also available on AllRecipes.com.

Here’s a look at one I made…

toasted lady fingers

Grab two packages of ladyfingers. A personal thing I like to do is toast one package and leave the other plain. It only takes a few minutes so watch them closely. They smell soooo good when they’re toasted.

sugar and eggs

Next, combine granulated sugar and egg yolks in a double boiler, then place it over simmering water for about 10 minutes.

sugar, eggs, whipped cream

Afterwards, fold whipped heavy cream into the egg yolk and sugar mixture.

assembled tiramisu

Brush the plain ladyfingers gently with a mixture of strong coffee and amaretto and place around the sides of a glass dish. Dip the toasted ladyfingers quickly into the same coffee mixture, then layer in the dish with the cream. Finally, wait about four hours for it to set.

tiramisu with shaved chocolate

Before diving into it, grate some bittersweet chocolate and sprinkle it generously over the top.

Tiramisu

It’s so totally worth the “little” effort you put into it.

Actually you’d be surprised at how easy that could be done Blond Duck. Good thing the serving bowls are small.
