You ever find yourself passing a display of strawberries in the grocery store or farmers market and wonder what you might make with them? I usually eat them fresh as a snack but my sweet tooth wanted me to make Strawberry Shortcakes instead.
Here’s a look at how these are made…
Start by slicing roughly one pint of the strawberries.
Next, combine approximately 1/3 cup of brown sugar and a tablespoon of water in a saucepan and cook on medium-low for just a few minutes until the brown sugar is melted.
Pour the liquid brown sugar on top of the berries and mix until coated.
Let the strawberries sit for 30 minutes, allowing them to release some of their juices.
I’m sure you’ve seen these little cake shells in the grocery store. Buy a package of these along with a container of Cool Whip.
Spoon a few strawberries along with a bit of the sweetened juice onto the cake shell.
Finally, top it all off with a dollop of Cool Whip, find a cozy chair to snuggle into and enjoy!
