This week is an exceptionally busy one for me so I have be sure to eat breakfast. I keep oatmeal in the pantry but I have to make a stop at the grocery store to pick up my favorite toppers before eating it.
I prefer Quaker’s Old Fashioned to the Quick Cooking oats.
I start by heating 3/4 cup water and 3/4 cup 2% milk in a small saucepan. Then, I add 3/4 cup of oatmeal and a dash of fine sea salt to the liquids. The sea salt makes a HUGE difference in its flavor.
I typically top my oatmeal with half a banana, some coarsely chopped walnuts and …
a bit of honey to give it just the right amount of sweetness.
A cup of coffee with my favorite vanilla creamer helps make this the perfect starter for my day. What breakfast staple gets you going in the morning?
Now I feel the need to go buy bananas and hide them from the kiddos! That looks like a wonderful winter comfort breakfast! I’m a toast with real butter and real homemade jam sort of girl, but oatmeal is a close second. Then grits and eggs. Pancakes….okay. I like it all. Now to fix breakfast for lunch! 😉 Thought of you when I found red velvet doughnuts while on vacation.
