When I was in high school, I had an incredible home economics teacher who taught me how to bake the cake that would become one of my family’s all time favorites.  Each year  during the holidays, I look forward to pulling out the sheet of notebook paper I originally scribbled the recipe on some {cough, cough} years ago.  Red Velvet Cake is still a seasonal favorite of mine and is the inspiration which continues to fuel my blog.

Red Velvet Confections is about cooking and creating.  It’s about me finally digging into those boxes I filled with recipes clipped from magazines and newspapers.   It’s about finding culinary treasures around the web and discovering whether or not they’ll work out well if I try them in my own kitchen.  It’s about creating something special for my family and friends. 

Besides cooking, I’m fascinated by many artistic diversions including photography, creative writing and graphic design.  Although, I’m still looking for my own little niche in these areas, I plan on sprinkling my blog with a few related posts just to get the juices flowing.
